Vintage Glambert

Even without the crazy hair and guyliner, Adam Lambert still had the voice. Here's a vintage clip of him at his Mt. Carmel High School graduation singing "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye" by Boys II Men. He's sporting his natural blonde hair color and no makeup in sight. My how people change after high school. Take a look.

Wedding Day

Today, we head up to Sedona, AZ for Shelby and Eric's wedding - two of the coolest, most down to earth people you'll meet. We're so excited for them and can't wait to party it up at the Sedona resort to celebrate!

And celebration is definitely in order for Ms. Spears, who's overseas with her "Circus" tour. Her album, "Circus, continues to impress on the charts and she's not showing any signs of slowing. To follow up the massive success of her 3rd single, "If You Seek Amy", the Queen of Pop is releasing the bonus track from the album as her 4th single from the album. "Radar" will include a full promotional package, including radio play and a hot video. The single cover artwork is below; what are your thoughts?

Third Day

Our last day in Phoenix before we head up to Sedona for the wedding event of the spring. We could sure use some cooler weather - PHX is so freaking hot!

Speaking of hot, check this video of Space Cowboy's new single, "Falling Down" featuring Idol Insider's favorite new ladies, The Paradiso Girls. Chelsea's workin' it out!

Second Day

Vacation for me continues - and no doubt, I am enjoying the heat in sunny Arizona.

The Idol winner, Kris Allen, performed with Keith Urban, one week ago, before being crowned the winner. Check out this awesome performance of "Kiss the Girl" and watch Kris Allen's journey through season 8.

Vacation Begins

I will be on vacation - visiting friends, hanging poolside, and going to one of my very best friend's wedding's - starting today. So it will be slow, but I will make sure you have a little something for each day I am gone.

To start things off, here is a fantastic performance - my favorite from the contestants - from the Idol finale, which aired last Wednesday. It features our season 8 runner up, Adam Lambert.

Happy Memorial Day

Katharine McPhee, the runner up to season 5's Idol winner, Taylor Kicks, has been a busy lady this last year. After her first album failed to take off, due to a lack of promotion from the label, the singer dabbled in acting, making her debut in "The House Bunny" with Anna Faris. But, now she is back with a new label, a new husband, and a new album being released later this year.

And even though she's been out of the public eye, minus her recent run in with the paps and a, now famous, homeless woman, she stopped by the National Memorial Day Concert to prove she still has the pipes that won her the votes to send her into the finale on Idol a few years ago. Take a look at Ms. (now a Mrs.) McPhee take on "America The Beautiful" and "Somewhere".

And happy 3-day weekend!

Kris Allen To Appear On Ellen

Kris Allen will be stopping by Ellen on Tuesday. But when you're the Idol Insider, you get the first look at these types of things, so we bring you the performances from Tuesday's now. SNL: Season Finale

As MADtv made its last appearance on Saturday night, big things were happening over at the SNL season finale last week. Will Ferrell served as host, while Green Day played two new tracks from their fantastic new album. And while Ferrell is a veteran cast member of the late night sketch show, he has become a bon-a-fide super star. He reprised his roles from earlier days on the show and introduced the world to some new ones. And then the stars came out in style: Mya Rudolph made an appearance, Amy Poehler reprised her spot with Seth Meyers delivering the "Weekend Update", Norm McDonald brought back Burt Reynolds (seen below), along with Anne Hathaway, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hanks. That's some A-List shiz happening on SNL. So we say goodbye MADtv, it's as if you never were here at all.

Favorite Moment on Idol Finale

My all time favorite moment on Wednesday night's Idol finale is posted for all to see below. I do think that Kara went a little overboard in order to prove her point, but "Bikini Girl" had it coming. And can we just say, "Damn, Kara! Rockin' bod!". There, we said it! Enjoy!

Kris Allen Is An American Idol

Congratulations to Kris Allen, our newest American Idol, on his surprising win last night! Both Kris and Adam brought some real talent to the long running reality series and both deserved to be there last night. And while Allen won the title, both Kris and Adam have released the single, "No Boundaries" to iTunes today (at press time Lambert was beating Kris on the top downloads chart), showcasing that both are embarking on some successful careers.

But, first let's revisit last night's show. Allen sang with Keith Urban, showcasing a cool country vibe that we hadn't seen from him, even during country week. Lambert sang with KISS, which was one of the best performances of the night, and the two sang together, "We Are The Champions", with Queen. Everyone turned out from Rod Stewart to Queen Latifah. Steve Martin even gave an unfortunate performance on the banjo while Megan joy and Michael Sarver butchered their way through it. It was definitely a finale that Idol lovers won't soon forget. We'll be bringing you video of our favorite moments over the next week, so keep it here.

And for the winner, Kris Allen, who will embark on a US tour with the other Top 9, he's got a stop to make first. Check it out below.

Idol Finale Recap

As the final Idol hopefuls took the stage last night, American knew they were in for a treat when Adam Lambert and Kris Allen faced off in one of the best finales in the history of the show. Kris had won the coin toss and he chose to go last, which is always a safer bet.

Round One: Adam Lambert, predictably, sang "Mad World", which was his best performance on the season. But unfortunately it fell a little short in comparison to the first go at the song, leaving Kris to pick up the pieces with his piano accompanied choice of "Ain't No Sunshine". Kris' smooth vocal and new arrangement left me, and Simon, giving the round to him.

Round Two: Idol creator, Simon Fuller, chose some oldies, but goodies for the contestants. First, Adam gave what seemed to be the best performance by any contestant of the season with his original take on "A Change Is Gonna Come". He killed it and basically there was no following that as Kris took on Marvin Gaye's classic, "What's Goin' On". The song was arranged well, but unfortunately I agreed with Simon that it was too "small" for the finale setting. Round two goes to Adam!

Round Three: Both contestants sang the Kara DioGaurdi penned coronation song, "No Boundaries" which really didn't fit either artist very well. Adam's version was a little pitchy and he didn't really perform it, as he has all season - maybe cause he had just learned the song days before the finale? And just when I thought Kris had it in the bag, he performed. His version was even worse than Lambert's, bad notes, forgotten lyrics, and times where the key was completely off. And the Idol producers did a piss-poor job at hiding the teleprompter showing the lyrics as they sang, which made Kris' lyrical mis-step even less forgivable. The judges went easy on both and asked America to vote based on the whole season. Unfortunately, based on who sucked less, I give the round to Lambert.

To close the show, that was already running long, they threw it to Carrie Underwood who got cut off in the middle of singing, "Home Sweet Home". Check out the front half of the song below, for those whose DVR's might have missed it.

And finally, I think both are very talented and will both have successful careers in their genres, so it's a tough call as to who will win. Lambert has been getting some poor media attention and I have a feeling Gokey's votes will go to Kris, making him almost unbeatable. I really don't think it would be an"upset" either way - I guess we'll wait and see.

It's been a fun season folks and I look forward to bringing you the news from these two talented guys as they continue their journey to super-stardom. Now, grab a cold beverage, pop some popcorn, and enjoy the finale!

TONIGHT: Idol Finale

Tonight, watch as underdog, Kris Allen, takes on the Season 8 front runner, Adam Lambert (aka Glambert) in the Idol showdown. Tonight's episode will pit the two against each other, both performing three songs. The first round will feature the contestants favorite performances of the season. My guess is Kris will go with last week's "Heartless", while Lambert will likely choose "Mad World". The second song choice will be that of ex-Idol producer, Simon Fuller. In the past this song choice was that of Clive Davis', but I guess they've opted out of that this year. Then, finally, the contestants will sing the winner's single, "This Is How I Want To Be", written by judge, Kara DioGuardi. Both Lambert and Allen will be able to arrange the song as they choose in order to show their "artistry", as Kara so loves to say, but will not be able to use instruments.

Then, tomorrow's results show, promises to be a huge television event. Not only will one of the contestants become the new American Idol, but the show will feature a plethora of celebrity performances. The two-hour, live event will feature performances by Lionel Ritchie, Carlos Santana, Queen Latifah, Keith Urban, Cyndi Lauper, Jason Mraz and the Black Eyes Peas. Carrie Underwood, who will perform her single recorded for this season's cast off single, "Home Sweet Home", and David Cook have been confirmed to appear, but it is rumored that the producers are trying to get all the previous winners to show. Also rumored is an appearance by David Bowie and/or KISS, but no word as to if this will happen. The idea is that every Idol hopeful will get a chance to perform with one of these stars. Those that have been confirmed are: Kris Allen with Keith Urban, Matt Giraud with Jason Mraz, Alison Iraheta with Cyndi Lauper and the KISS-Bowie rumor is for Lambert's duet partner. No word on the rest of the Top 10, although they will all appear on the show. The entertainment driven show, Extra, is reporting the Britney Spears may make a surprise appearance, but the Spears camp has denied the claims. I guess we'll just have to watch and see...

Keep your eyes peeled here for all the latest Idol-finale news!

UPDATE: I just saw the twitter message from Adam Leber, Britney's manager, who says, "No Idol for Brit. She is on vacation. Sorry guys". Although it seems the rumors have been put to rest, chatter continues that the Queen of Pop may appear to perform her new single, "Radar".

UPDATE #2: Danny "Jokey" Gokey has been confirmed to perform his duet with Lionel Richie. Sounds like a snooze fest to us...

UPDATE #3: Santana will be performing a song with the entire Top 13, no word on the song choice.

Update #4: "No Boundaries" is the name of the coronation song written by Kara, not "This Is How I Want To Be", as previously reported.

Update #5: Steve Martin will take the Idol stage tomorrow night with his banjo to play a song from his new album. Yes, Steve Martin, it sounds like a total snooze fest.

Update #6 - The Top 13 will perform "Smooth" with Santana and "So What" by P!nk on the results show.

Kelly Clarkson has been all over the place promoting her new single, "I Do Not Hook Up". She, first, stopped by The Tonight Show to sing her power anthem, then stopped by Ellen on Thursday. On Ellen, she opened the show with her mega-smash hit, "Since U Been Gone" and then sat down with Ellen to discuss her ranch, her thoughts on this season's American Idol and lots more. EXCLUSIVE: Paradiso Girls In Denver

When The Paradiso Girls stopped in Denver for a performance at Club Beta, you know I had to be there. It was a beautiful Sunday night and one for the history books as far as partying is concerned. The club wasn't packed due to some unfortunate promotion, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the night and these lovely ladies. The girls performed a short set of songs from their debut album, Crazy Horse, due out later this year, including "Who's My Bitch" and their new single, "Patron Tequila". The single, which is sure to become a summer smash and club anthem, is currently #64 on iTunes and climbing. The short-concert was high energy and the girls brought their "S" game - sexy all the way! But when something comes out of Camp Antin, do you ever expect anything less?

After the show, I had a chance to chat it up with the girls before they had to head back to their hotel to prepare for their interview with Mix Terminal in the morning. The Idol Insider was definitely "on Patron Tequila, drunk off margaritas", so he had no problem cozying up to the beauties. Shar and I even got down on some of the "Patron" lyrics, while taking a twirl on Blake Street, in front of Club Beta. All of the girls were so full of energy and proved they each brought something special to the group. I am looking forward to many more run ins with them in the future, as they are quickly becoming an Idol Insider favorite! Check out their website to find out how you, too, can catch them on tour when they stop in your town; and be sure to tell them the Idol Insider sent you!

Some of the videos of their Denver performances are below, but check out my Facebook page for more footage and photos of the girls as they take over Denver! And don't forget to holler at the girls in the comment section to let them know how much you adore them!

This won't be the last you hear of them, as the Idol Insider will bring you the premiere of their first music video, news, and album reviews.

Idol Update

As you may have noticed, I gave up my Idol recaps - mainly due to the fact that the show has become a little bit of a joke this year. Don't get me wrong, the contestants are better than ever, but the judges banter, Ryan's staircase, the news that the bottom three are not "accurate", and the overly hyped pre-taped performances each week. It's just a little sad that this show has become more generic than ever. And why are the judges all over the magazine covers, rather than the contestants? Does anyone really care if Paula and Kara are feuding? I certainly don't and I since my recaps started consisting more about the judges than contestants I refuse to take part in the media hype.

So, as a quick update, I am happy to announce that my choices for the finale, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, will face off next week for the chance to be the new American Idol! It's a tough call because Adam has been the fave all season, but Ryan announced that the two finalists were only 1 million votes apart in a 88 million vote night. And with Gokey out of the race, Kris could become quite unbeatable, since most of the Gokey support will likely go to Allen. It's definitely going to be a good show and will have me on the edge of my seat.

And last night also offered a fantastic performance from Season 6 winner, Jordin Sparks, who performed her new single, "Battlefield", with co-writer, Ryan Tedder. Jordin, who always has had a couple extra pounds, looked off the hook last night and we're definitely watching little Sparks grow up right before our eyes into a certified diva. If you missed the performance, we've got it for you below - and check out that fierce ending look Jordin flashes the camera. We also are posting Katy Perry's performance of "Waking Up In Vegas", which was alright, but we love that she opened it showing off her Elvis-esque cape with the name "Adam Lambert" embroidered on the back. Guess we know who's she's rooting for...

"He Hit It"

One of the funniest episodes of SNL in a long time aired this past weekend with Justin Timberlake serving as host. We will try to get more videos up, but in the meantime, check out this one where he puts his ex, Britney Spears, on blast. Burn!

Forgetting Danny Gokey

During his recent visit to his hometown of Milwaukee, Danny Gokey, chose to sing "Billie Jean", his song choice for the Michael Jackson themed show. Unfortunately for Mr. Gokey, he didn't bother to practice or learn the lyrics. At the very beginning of the performance, his lyric sheet blew away and he proceeds to spend the rest of the song stumbling around like a real amateur. I'm sure the Idol folks will "forget" to include this in his footage on tonight's show. Lucky for us, a fan captured the whole thing...

"I'm on Patron Tequila, I'm drunk on Margaritas"

Hey kids, exciting news! Tonight I get to watch The Paradiso Girls take the stage at Beta in Denver to kick off their first club tour. Denver is their first stop and I predict it's only going to explode from here. Their first single, "Patron Tequila" is already becoming a cult favorite and is sure to be summer hit and huge club banger! The single is available on iTunes now, so if you don't have it, you should.

The girls are the newest bunch of beauties hand picked by the one and only, Robin Antin, who created The Pussycat Dolls and Girlicious. If you watched the reality series, The Pussycat Dolls Present Girlicious, on The CW a couple years ago, you might remember Chelsea Korka. Chelsea was let go before the finale, but it seems her run with Antin was not over. Korka will now be seen lending her fierce vocals and spicy flare to The Paradiso Girls. We're hoping for a meet and greet tonight, and if it happens, we'll bring you all the details tomorrow. Until then, let me hear ya: "Who wanna get tore up tonight, who wanna get drunk?" I do!

Check out their single here and then go get it on iTunes!

Don't Forget to Tune In

Don't forget to catch Justin Timberlake host tonight's episode of SNL featuring musical guest, Ciara. Ciara and Justin will perform their duet, "Love and Sex and Magic" tonight - should be hot, hot, hot! Check it out!

Fight For Love...And The Spotlight

Idol's Season 5 contestant, Elliott Yamin, celebrated mild success with his first, self-titled, album, but he's back with his sophomore album, Fight For Love. Today, we bring you the video for the first single and title track. He's definitely got a talent, but he's missing the star factor that Carrie & Kelly have brought us from years past. He's a fighter, so I don't think this is the last time we'll hear from him. Lois, this one's for you!

Results Show Spectacular!

Last night's Idol results show really showed up in a big way. Although, I think the thing is rigged - Alison definitely should have stayed, while Danny should have gone-key! But, the performances from last night's show were awesome!

I wouldn't have predicted this, but Paula Abdul performance was the highlight of the show. Her comeback performance screamed that she's ready to be back on top and she was twirling, flipping, and dancing her butt off to prove just that.

Then, No Doubt, performed one of their biggest hits, "Just A Girl", which seemed a little off, but hey they've been out of the scene for a while, so they're a little rusty. After the performance Gwen announced that while they haven't released a new album yet to tour, they are going to be working on a new No Doubt album during their nationwide tour that kicks off next week in Las Vegas.

And finally, Chris Daughtry and the rest of his band his the stage to debut their new single, "No Surprise", which is available now on iTunes and is already becoming an Idol Insider fave.

"Crazy" Fan

At a recent Britney show, a fan rushed the singer during her encore performance of "Womanizer". The singer was spooked by the fan and, judging by this video didn't have her microphone on during the song. No surprise, but if y'all want to meet your favorite star, remember this: Scaring the $^!+ out of them isn't the way to do it. Take a look at the video, it happens toward the end, but you can definitely see how scared she was:

Where Are They Now?

Tonight's the Top 4 on American Idol and we can hardly wait to see Slash mentor the contestants to bring out their inner Axl Rose, as well as see the first time Idol makes the contestants duet as a part of the competition. We also can't wait for the results show, which has a few surprises in store. Daughtry and No Doubt will be performing their new singles, as we previously reported, but it has just been learned that Paula Abdul will also be premiering her new single, which will apparently be the lead single from a new album coming out this Fall. And we're hearing her performance is actually good and the song reunites her with the producer whom she worked with on Forever Your Girl. We can't wait!

But, in the meantime, here's an update on what the rest of the past Idols winners have been up to...

Kelly Clarkson (Season 1): Her fourth album, All I Ever Wanted, debuted at #1 and is still tearing up the charts with her first two singles, "My Life Would Suck Without You" and "I Do Not Hook Up". At a recent appearance Kelly confirmed that her third single will be "Already Gone".

Ruben Studdard (Season 2): Ruben has not experienced as much success as the Idol divas, but he continues to power on. His fourth album, Love Is, will be in stores May 19th.

Fantasia Barrino (Season 3): Fantasia is busy working on her third studio album, as well as appearing in a 10-week run of The Color Purple. Fantasia is also shopping around a reality TV series in which she will return to High School to finally graduate.

Carrie Underwood (Season 4): Carrie, who recently became the first solo female in 10 years to win Entertainer of the Year, has been spending most of her time writing and recording for her third album in Nashville, Tennessee. Her album, currently untitled, is planned to come out in the late fall/early winter.

Taylor Hicks (Season 5): After being dropped from his Idol contract, Hicks hit the road with the touring version of Grease. On March 10, Taylor's second album was released on his own record label and he has been busy promoting it across the country.

Jordin Sparks (Season 6): Jordin is preparing the release of her sophomore album, still untitled, for a early fall release. She will premiering her new single, "Battlefield", on the Idol Top 3 Results Show next week.

David Cook (Season 7): David, who recently lost his brother to brain cancer, has been busy touring colleges across the country and recently released two new singles from his debut album, "Come Back To Me" and "Bar-ba-Sol".

And here's a quick update from some other notable, non-winning, contestants...

Clay Aiken (Season 2): After parting ways with his label, RCA, Aiken appeared on the April 8th episode of America's Next Top Model. He is said to be spending time being a new dad and working on some new music to shop around to new labels.

Josh Gracin (Season 2): After the third single, "Telluride", from his sophomore album We Weren't Crazy flopped on country radio, his label, Lyric Street Records, quickly dropped him from its artist roster. Gracin is currently working on new music, posted a new song, "Enough", on his MySpace and is shopping for a new label.

Bo Bice (Se
ason 4): Bo will be releasing his third album on June 9th, which will feature a backing band that consists of Steve Gorman, of the Black Crowes, and Dan Toler of the Allman Brothers Band. He will also be recording a live version album this summer and release a documentary of his tour in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq last year.

Katharine McPhee (Season 5): McPhee recently signed a new recording deal with Verve Forecast and is releasing a new album later this Fall. She is also set to star in the romantic comedy, Wedlocked, later this year.

Elliott Yamin (Season 5): Elliott's sophomore album, Fight For Love, is in stores today and the single of the same name has already hit radio. He also recording a duet with Season 5 winner, Taylor Hicks, for Hicks' new album, The Distance.

Chris Daughtry (Season 5): His sophomore album is set to be released on July 14th, which promises to even more rock than the last album. Daughtry will pe
rform their new single, "No Surprise", on this week's results show.

Bucky Covington (Season 5): Bucky is working on his sophomore album with Lyric Street Records, which is set to arrive in stores September 8th, and recently released the first single from the disc, which flopped on country radio.

Blake Lewis (Season 6): Lewis is working on a dance/techno album that he hopes to release this year with his new label, Tommy Boy Records.

David Archuleta (Season 7): Archuleta is currently on a promotional tour for his new single, "A Little Too Not Over You", and is gearing up to hit the road with Demi Lovato this summer.

Idol Update

On this week's rock-themed show, not only will the contestants be performing a solo song, they will also team up with one of the other contestants for a "rocking" duet. This will either be incredibly great or go horribly wrong; either way it will make for some great TV. It will also, likely, have an effect on the voting, seeing as one set (whoever is teamed with Lambert) of contestants might do much better than another set - helping boost the final votes.

Also, ex-Idol producer, Nigel Lythgoe, revealed that most of the time the bottom 3 is not revealed to America in the correct order. The producers are given the go ahead to put them in any order they want to create a boost in ratings. So, this confirms our theory that Adam Lambert was not in the bottom 2 last week, but they are working to boost his votes to crown him the winner. That seems bullish to us!

And, lastly, since the contestants that the Vote For The Worsters keep trying to keep around are getting cut (Megan Joy, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud), they have now turned their attention to Danny, who was once a front runner, as the worst hopeful left standing. Seems like they haven't thought that one through.

R.I.P.

Sad news, Idol fans. David Cook's brother, who has been battling brain cancer for some time, passed away this morning. David, who was not able to be with his brother when he passed, announced the sad news this morning after he finished the 5K Race for Hope in Washington D.C.

Cook's brother, Adam Cook, had made David try out for Idol. Had it not been for him, the world may never know David Cook, the superstar. Check out this video of David delivering the sad and emotional news this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time.

No Doubt, They're Back

No Doubt is preparing to release a new album, their first in years, later in 2009. To kick off their promotional tour, they stopped by the Today show to perform one of their classics, "Spiderwebs", which brought back great memories for the Idol Insider. No Doubt is one of my favorite bands of all time and I am gearing up for their summer tour and new album - it's gonna be a great year for music! The band will appear on an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl, as well as next week's American Idol. Until then, check out their performance on Today - my favorite part of the performance? When Gwen forgets the words and has the audience sing it to her...check it out!

Idol Update

As we know, next week's theme is Rock Week, which should suit most of the contestants left, and Slash will be the guest mentor. Does he actually talk??? I guess, we'll see. But the really exciting news we have for you is not about the contestants performances, but, instead, the results show. Not only will No Doubt be performing their new single, "Stand And Deliver", but past Idol contestant, Chris Daughtry, will also be debuting his band's new single from their sophomore album. We can't wait - it promises to be a great show.

And the new Idol songs don't stop there. Jordin Sparks, season 6 winner, will debut her new single, "Battlefield", on the Top 3 results show along with Katy Perry, who will sing her new single, "Waking Up In Vegas".
